Constable Jeffrey T. Hatfield, a Lancaster City native, has served as an elected public official in Lancaster City as a Pennsylvania State Constable for 47 years. He began his career as a Student Police Officer with the Lancaster Bureau of Police from 1976 to 1979. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Fire Protection Specialist and earned an associate degree in fire science through the U.S. Air Force. Over the years, he has attended numerous public safety training programs in law enforcement and fire services, including a two-week tour of duty with the Metropolitan Police at New Scotland Yard in England. Jeff has also served for 46 years as Lieutenant/Supervisor of Police and Security for the UPMC Lititz and Lancaster Region and works part-time as a Police Officer for the York State Fair and York County Agricultural Society. In addition, he is a member of the Lafayette Fire Company, where he serves as Fire Police Lieutenant and previously held the offices of President for 6 years, Vice President for 2 years, and Board Director for 6 years. In October 2018, the East Lampeter Township Board of Supervisors and the Emergency Services Committee appointed him Emergency Management Coordinator for East Lampeter Township. In March 2021, he became an ordained minister. He is dedicated to public safety and to helping build a positive, safe community. In January 2025, he had the privilege of being sworn in as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal to work with the Metropolitan Police Department during the 2025 Presidential Inauguration Task Force. Over the years, Jeff has received numerous commendations and awards from the City of Lancaster, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police, the Lafayette Fire Company, the Law Enforcement Multijurisdictional 60th Presidential Inaugural Task Force, the Southern Lancaster County Inter-Municipal Council, and Bart Township for the West Nickel Mines School incident. He also holds numerous certifications in public safety, law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, homeland security, church security protection, and traffic control/Traffic Incident Management (TIM).
